The Agawam Education Association would like to congratulate this year’s 2017 Friend in Education award winner, Melinda Monasterski. Melinda works at Heritage Hall and is in charge of the dementia unit there. She has established a Dementia Program at the high school with the Future Medical Careers Club and with Lisa Sheehan. She also has established a dementia program in town.
Melinda is a wonderful person; full of ideas and always receptive to collaborating with teachers and students. She has collaborated with the Foreign Language Department at the high school to bring Spanish IV classes down to Heritage Hall to visit with Spanish speaking residents. The program was a great success. The Foreign Language Club went caroling at the Dementia Units several times during the holidays.
